In Season 4, we hosted The Animal Activists Kenya Raas Garba Night for Tree Planting. 1,200 people turned up, with dozens of sponsors supporting the event, and it did not let down! We raised KES 1.3 million for tree planting in the Abedares region in Kenya, a huge step in the right direction for wildlife and environmental conservation. The trees planted will support over 300–400 unique species, including insects, birds, mammals, fungi, and soil organisms, for centuries to come. The 13,000 croton trees were planted by Friends Of Environment Conservation Trust (FOECT), to whom we are deeply grateful for their support in the massive success of this event. Read more below.

Friends of Environment Conservation Trust (FOECT)

Over the course of early 2024, we donated KES 1.3 million to the Friends Of Environmental Conservation Trust
(FOECT), an environmental conservation organization founded for tree-planting initiatives across Kenya.

The KES 1.3 million donated will fund the planting of 13,000 croton trees in the Abedares region and includes labor costs, transport costs, seedling costs, watering costs, and maintenance costs.

The trees have all been successfully planted and are being closely monitored every month to ensure the highest survival rate possible. We thank all our sponsors who made this reforestation initiative possible, as well as all the parties who played a role in the success of our fundraising event.

Raas Garba Night for Tree Planting

On Saturday, 24th February, 2024, Animal Activists Kenya hosted our largest fundraising event to date—the Raas Garba Night—bringing together over 1,100 people from all walks of life to dance for conservation.

Held on 24th February, the event combined vibrant cultural celebration with impactful environmental action, featuring the incredible music of Dr. Vipul’s live band and professional trainers to guide guests in learning garba and dandiya steps.

With incredible community support, the evening raised over KES 1,300,000 in profit, which directly funded the planting and nurturing of 10,000 indigenous trees by Friends of Environmental Conservation Trust (FOECT), contributing to large-scale reforestation efforts in the Aberdares and Mount Kenya regions. To date, FOECT has planted and cared for more than 300,000 trees, and this event helped accelerate their mission.

Organized by the youngest of conservationists—Arjun, Batian, and Kaveri—and supported by peers like Veer, Rishi, Meer, and Mirali, Raas Garba Night was a landmark event blending cultural joy with meaningful environmental impact. With a lively atmosphere, delicious food stalls, and cross-generational participation, it became a true celebration of conservation.
