Raas Garba Night for Tree Planting
On Saturday, 24th February, 2024, Animal Activists Kenya hosted our largest fundraising event to date—the Raas Garba Night—bringing together over 1,100 people from all walks of life to dance for conservation.
Held on 24th February, the event combined vibrant cultural celebration with impactful environmental action, featuring the incredible music of Dr. Vipul’s live band and professional trainers to guide guests in learning garba and dandiya steps.
With incredible community support, the evening raised over KES 1,300,000 in profit, which directly funded the planting and nurturing of 10,000 indigenous trees by Friends of Environmental Conservation Trust (FOECT), contributing to large-scale reforestation efforts in the Aberdares and Mount Kenya regions. To date, FOECT has planted and cared for more than 300,000 trees, and this event helped accelerate their mission.
Organized by the youngest of conservationists—Arjun, Batian, and Kaveri—and supported by peers like Veer, Rishi, Meer, and Mirali, Raas Garba Night was a landmark event blending cultural joy with meaningful environmental impact. With a lively atmosphere, delicious food stalls, and cross-generational participation, it became a true celebration of conservation.

Everest for the Environment
In October 2024, 14-year-old Batian Upadhyaya set out on a challenging journey to Everest Base Camp—not just for the adventure, but to raise vital funds and awareness for wildlife conservation efforts in Kenya.
Batian’s trek took him through the high Himalayan trails, from Lukla to Everest Base Camp (5,464 m), over eight grueling days. Along the way, he crossed the iconic Hillary Bridge, visited the stunning Tengboche Monastery, hiked through freezing fog and stunning valleys, and even met Kami Rita Sherpa, the world record holder for most summits of Mount Everest. Battling fatigue, altitude sickness, and tough terrain, Batian reached Base Camp—his determination fueled by a mission much bigger than himself.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of friends, family, and supporters, Batian raised a total of KES 850,000, all of which will go directly to community-based wildlife conservation projects in Kenya. This effort marks the launch of Animal Activists Season 5, continuing our mission to support grassroots conservation. To celebrate the achievement, we held a special slideshow event for donors, where Batian shared highlights from the trek and reflected on the challenges and beauty of the journey.

Youngest Girl to Summit the 2 Highest Peaks in Africa!
Between July 11th and August 8th, 2023, 13-year-old Kaveri Shah set out on an inspiring mission: to summit Uhuru Peak on Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m) and Point Lenana on Mount Kenya (4,985 m)—the two highest hikeable mountains in Africa—all within just one month. Her goal was not only to complete this incredible physical feat but also to raise funds and awareness for wildlife conservation in Kenya.
What started with a fundraising target of KES 100,000 quickly gained momentum. By the end of the campaign—after Kaveri successfully reached the summits of both Uhuru Peak and Lenana Peak—the fundraiser had raised over KES 610,000 in donations. The funds will go directly toward wildlife and ecosystem protection projects across Kenya.
To mark the end of the campaign and share her story, Kaveri presented a slideshow event attended by friends, supporters, and conservation partners. Her journey officially launched Season 4 of Animal Activists Kenya, continuing the group’s mission of youth-led action for the planet.
Kaveri’s determination and heart showed that young people can lead real change. Her double summit stands as a powerful message: that age is no limit when it comes to protecting our planet.

Reel Rock Film Festival Movie Night
As part of Season 3, Animal Activists Kenya hosted our first-ever Movie Night fundraiser on Sunday, June 25th, 2023, at the Roslyne Riviera Theater, screening highlights from the Reel Rock Film Festival. The event brought together 16 passionate supporters of wildlife conservation for an afternoon of cinema with a purpose.
In total, we raised KES 26,000, all going directly towards conservation efforts across Kenya. The event was not only a fun and engaging way to promote environmental awareness but also served as a unique opportunity to unite Nairobi’s conservation-minded community through film.
The Reel Rock Film Festival is globally known for breathtaking adventure films centered around nature, exploration, and conservation. Our screening highlighted stories that celebrated the natural world while spotlighting the urgent need to protect it.
Every shilling raised through the Movie Night contributed to our Season 3 impact—helping fund grassroots organizations working in habitat conservation, wildlife rescue, and community education. Events like this allow us to diversify our fundraising and engage new audiences beyond traditional donation drives.
With 100% of seats filled, Movie Night was a SOLD-OUT success, reflecting the growing excitement and community support for our work.
